Palestine Solidarity Campaign

I can confirm that I have not met with the PSC or any of its representatives. I would also like to reassure you that I reject the PSC’s comparison between Israel and apartheid-era South Africa. Israel is not a ‘racist endeavour’; it is a thriving democratic nation, with Arab members of its Parliament and Supreme Court. There is no place for antisemitism in our society, and we must all stand up against antisemitism wherever it occurs.

The UK has a strong and productive relationship with Israel, and I hope that this will go from strength to strength following the recent UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement. I am pleased that a number of Arab-majority countries have agreed to normalise relations with Israel over the last year, and I welcome the fact that proposals to annex parts of the West Bank have been suspended as part of those agreements.

I hope that the recent agreements between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco will pave the way for further agreements with other Arab-majority nations, and ultimately to a peace agreement with the Palestinian Authority.
